You know when you just need an accessory to bring your outfit together, but nothing seems to work exactly as you’d hoped? I’ve been struggling with that a lot lately, because it’s so hot here.

But, because I like fashion, I still want to have a cool scarf to complete my outfits.  So, I did what I normally do and created this easy ribbed cowl crochet pattern for beginners! Isn’t it pretty?

I used a bright white yarn to make it the perfect accessory for just about any outfit.

I love how the white makes it look delicate and light!  I also used a beautiful ribbing texture effect which is absolutely my favorite part of this whole pattern.

I think it looks amazing and so much prettier than I even anticipated.  The good news is that it’s so easy to do! That means that if you’re a beginner, you can easily make this pattern too!

It’s a great beginner’s crochet pattern to start with after you learn the basic single , double crochet and half double crochet stitches, because it expands your stitch knowledge and gives you a new one to add to your repertoire.

Speaking of new stitches, this pattern also features a little touch of crochet lace. I’ll admit that when I was first learning and saw lace, I thought it would be so challenging.

Oh my gosh, I was so wrong! This lace is one of the easiest stitches you can do to add a hint of elegance to your crochet piece.  You just skip two stitches and then do double crochet in the third stitch.  Then repeat that all the way around the piece.  It gives it such an amazing look!

After you finish with the long rectangle of the piece,  I measured mine out to be about 8 inches wide, and 28 inches long, but it’s totally customizable and can be any length and width you’d like.

Then you use a yarn needle to stitch the ends together.  This creates the cowl look.
