Well well well Halloween just gone by but I was making this red ridding hood cape for the last minutes Halloween crochet costume, I was only whip this up in just one afternoon and in time for the Halloween night out with friends and family. But the pattern is coming after that lol.

This crochet cape is made from acrylic yarn with 6 mm crochet hook to give the texture of the cape light and flowy for the chilling night out around town.
They are use one of my favorite go to crochet lace stitch called ” fancy lace stitch”
This lace stitch is great for beginner out there.
Let’s get into it!
– I used 100% acrylic Lion brand Heartland or Lion brand Wool-Ease yarn weight 4 aran. I use around 400 yard.
– 6 mm crochet hook or J/10 US hook size
– Sewing yarn needle
-stitch marker
Gauge: 2 group of fancy lace stitch = 4 inch
This crochet cape when I did not add hoodie hat, it’s also look great on it own.

Skill and abbreviations
You will need to know how to make (American crochet term)
-sc which mean single crochet
-dc which mean double crochet
-ch Chain
-slip knot
-sk mean skip stitch
one size fit all:
For me the model wearing this piece, I am 4’9 feet tall.
The red ridding hood cape instruction.
The measurement of the cape is around 28 inch.
Pick up crochet hook size 6mm and Start of by making a slip knot Then make 56+2= 58chains for all size (foundation chain multiple of 4+2).
Row 1: Sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: dc across until you are at the last 2stitch make 2dc in each of the last 2 stitch, ch 2, turn.
Row 3: dc across until you are at the last 2stitch make 2dc in each of the last 2 stitch, ch 2, turn.
Row4. make ruffle base for fancy lace stitch *3dc in next st , 1dc in the next st* repeat this* to* until the end of the row. ch3 and trun
Row 5: skip the first stitch and make 2dc,ch2,2dc all in the same of the next stitch , then
* skip 3 and make 2dc, ch2,2dc all in next stitch* repeat * to * across until end of the row, then you will have 2 stitch left sk1 and make 1dc in last stitch. ch3 and turn.
Row6. now you will make * 2dc,ch2,2dc in the chain space of the previous row* repeat * to * across until end of the row. at the end make 1dc in ch3 space of the previous row. ch3 and turn.
Repeat row 6 until you get around 12 inches long.
Now it time to ad the tie and pom pom to the cape.
After we finished adding the tie and pom pom then we will move on to make the hoodie hat foe this pretty cape.

Pick up crochet hook size 6mm and Start of by making a slip knot Then make 36+2= 38chains for all size (foundation chain multiple of 4+2).
Row 1: Sc across, ch 3, turn.
Row 2: then skip the first stitch and make 2dc,ch2,2dc all in the same of the next stitch , then
* skip 3 and make 2dc, ch2,2dc all in next stitch* repeat * to * across until end of the row, then you will have 2 stitch left sk1 and make 1dc in last stitch. ch3 and turn.
Row3. now you will make * 2dc,ch2,2dc in the chain space of the previous row* repeat * to * across until end of the row. at the end make 1dc in ch3 space of the previous row. ch3 and turn.
Repeat row 3 until you get around 27 inches long.
Now Fold them in half and sew the back to create the hoodie.
then attached hoodie hat to the cape by sewing using yarn needle.
All done!

HI Maddy There is no edgeing it work in one piece for the cape except the hood. to add pom pom tie so make pom pom separate then make crochet a chain then attached the tie to the pom pom then attach the pom pom with tie tot he cape. I will make video tutorial soon.

HI julie, for the hood my one is not fit the wide of the top edge of the cape either.
