For me the model wearing this piece, I am 4’9 feet tall
Measurement.
- Of one rectangle.
- 42 inches long
- 12 inches wide
- For the width: If you need to make it wider ( bigger size), simply add more chains in an even number multiple of 2.
- For the length: add more rows.
The vacation kimono cardigan pattern instruction.
Pick up a crochet hook size 5 mm and Start off by making a slip knot. Then make 40 chains.
(Foundation chain multiple of 2 )
- size s-m makes 40 chains
- size large makes 52 chains
- size XL makes 62 chains
- size 2xl makes 72 chains.
- size 3XL makes 80 chain
5 mm hook, Row 1. sc in the second chain from the hook and each chain across, ch1 turn
5 mm hook, Row 2. sc in the next stitch from hook * ch1, skip 1 st, sc in next st * repeat * to * across until the end of the row. Ch1 turn
5 mm hook, Row 3. sc in the first ch space * ch1, skip 1 st, sc in the next ch space * repeat * to * across until the end of the row and make sc on the turning ch. Ch1 turn
Repeat row 3 until your piece measures approximately 42 inches long, DO NOT Fasten off and continue to add edging.
Pick up a 4.0 mm hook, By ch1 and turn to make sc in each space across for 1 row,
Now we will start to make a granny stitch for the edging. Pick up a 4.0 mm crochet hook for edging.
Row1 of granny stitch, turn ch2, then make 1dc in the same stitch * skip 2 stitches, then work 3dc in next stitch* repeat * to * across until end of the row until you will have 3 stitches remain, skip 2 st, 2dc in the last stitch.
( if u have 2 stitches remaining skip 1 st and 2 dc in the last st) ch2 turn.
Row2. now you will work 3dc in each space ( between double crochet groups) across until the end of the row, then dc in the last stitch, turn.
Now if you feel the rectangle is not wide enough just add more rows of granny stitch by repeating rows 1 and 2.
For me, I make 3 rows of the granny stitch.
Repeat the same process to make a second rectangle
After finishing 2 pieces of the rectangle, it’s time to assemble.
Center back Seam:
Lay 2 pieces of rectangles side by side. Now, use a yarn needle and whip stitch to seam the middle part together ( the center back panels, from the bottom up around 20 inches.
Tie off and weave in ends.
Side Seams to create the arm hole:
Seam up each side of the kimono cardigan with a whip stitch or your preferred stitch method.
Leave for the arm hole about 7- 8 inches long at the top upper end.
You may adjust the how long of the arm hole to fit your size.
Now enjoy your new cardigan.
If you make one, I would love to see your creation. Tag me on Instagram!
Happy crocheting.

I am in the process of making this. I am not a tight crocheter at all but I don't have any of those open, breezy holes like you do. What can I do? I'm using the same yarn as you suggest and I've watched your videos. =/
