Hi guys! Here is a crochet Santa hat. That I make during Chrismas time. This tutorial is great for beginner crocheter. So let’s make this cute hat together.

Sizes:
Baby 3-6 months (fits up to 14 – 17 inch)
This hat is working in round. So If you want to make a bigger size just make crochet increase to make it bigger.
Materials:
You will need
· MC (shown here in Red colour): 100 grams/189 meters of New soft 8 ply yarn (brand Panda magnum 100% acrylic)

Crochet hook size 3.5 mm
Sewing yarn needle
Removable stitch markers or contrasting coloured yarn
Gauge: 4 single crochet stitches x 4 rows = 1 square inch

Chain (ch)
Slip stitch (sl st)
Single crochet (sc)

Note:
1. In this pattern, you will work in the round continuously. You may use a removable stitch marker or a short piece of yarn of contrasting colour to mark the beginning of each round. At the end of each round, you will not join, but begin the next round in the next stitch.
2. The stitch counts at the end of each round are given.
Hat body (red colour)
You will work from top to bottom
Round1. Make magic ring or adjustable ring and 10sc in ring (10 sts)
Round2-8. sc in each st around (10 sts)
Round9. *Sc in next st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (15 sts)
Round10-13. sc in each st around (15 sts)
Round14. *Sc in next 2 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (20 sts)
Round15-18. sc in each st around (20 sts)
Round19. *Sc in next 3 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (25 sts)
Round20-24. Sc in each st around (25 sts).
Round25. *Sc in next 4 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (30 sts)
Round26-28. sc in each st around (30 sts)
Round29. *Sc in next 5 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (35 sts)
Round30-32. sc in each st around (35 sts)
Round33. *Sc in next 6 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (40 sts)
Round34-36. sc in each st around (40 sts)
Round37. *Sc in next 7 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (45 sts)
Round38-40. sc in each st around (45 sts)
Round41. *Sc in next 8 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (50 sts)
Round42-44. sc in each st around (50 sts)
Round45. *Sc in next 9 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (55 sts)
Round46-48. sc in each st around (55 sts)
Round49. *Sc in next 10 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (60 sts)
Round50. *Sc in next 11 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (65 sts)
Round51-60. sc in each st around (65 sts)
Round61. Pick up fancy yarn, sc in each st around (65 sts)
Round62. Fancy yarn, sc in each st around (65 sts), finish off.
Pom Pom:
Make 1 pieces with White colour (fancy yarn) .There are many way to make pom pom, choose the way you like to make.

Do you have a piece of white colour yarn all the way through the hat? How does that work? Also how do you finish off the red yarn?

So I've started this pattern and I'm on row 33 and so far it looks as tho the yarn and point is really stiff and won't bend over like the hat in the pic....will this change by the end of the pattern or should I be using a different yarn? I went with a red heart weight 4
