As off October approaching, the winter month just around  the corner, so I was thinking about making something cozy and warm for the up coming cold season and this knit look oversize crochet sweater or a jumper is here for you guys to enjoy. They are not only easy to make but also stylish to wear out around town or even in the house.

They are easy to mix and match with any jean or tight pant or you could even wear this as it is like a sweater dress!

And the blue color is my favorite go to color that I am always love to pick up for many project like blue lagoon cardigan or  a modern crochet top tee  is also blue!

They are make up from just 2 pieces of rectangle, see how easy it is? and the ribbing band at the bottom is work separate and attached them together.

I am using acrylic yarn with a big crochet hook  and the combination of moss stitch/ linin stitch they give the sweater texture so much of a soft and squishy feeling to touch mmmm….  you guys almost want to cuddle yourself while wearing this sweater! haha trust me! Or if you want to switch from acrylic yarn to wool blend ahhhh… how luxury!

It’s will be the best gift that everyone will love!

Let’s get start!

– I used  100% acrylic Lion brand Heartland or Lion brand Wool-Ease yarn weight 4 aran. I use around 1200 yard.

– 6 and 4 mm crochet hook

Sewing yarn needle

-stitch marker

Gauge:  2 moss stitch  = 1 inch

 

Skill and abbreviations

(American crochet terms)

You will need to know how to make

-St  which mean stitch

-sc which mean single crochet

-hdc which mean half double crochet

-Blo which mean crochet in back loop only

-ch, Chain

-slip knot

moss /linen stitch

Finished Size Approximately:

 Small to medium ( Easy to adjust by add more chain to the foundation chain for bigger size)

For me the model wearing this piece, I am 4’9 feet tall.

Measurement.

of one rectangle.

-20 inches long

-25 inches wide

For the width: If you need to make it wider ( bigger size) simply add more chain in even number multiple of 2.

For the length:  add more row.

Knit look oversize crochet sweater instruction.

Pick up crochet hook size 6 mm and Start of by making a slip knot Then make 90 chains  (foundation chain multiple of 2 )

For size large make 100 chain, size XL make 110 chain, size 2xl make 120 chain.

6 mm hook ,Row1. sc in second chain from hook and each chain across, ch1 turn

6 mm hook ,Row2.  sc in the next stitch from hook * ch1, skip 1 st, sc in next st * repeat * to * across until the end of the row. Ch1 turn

6 mm hook, Row3. sc in the first ch space * ch1, skip 1 st, sc in next ch space * repeat * to * across until the end of the row and make sc on the turning ch. Ch1 turn

Repeat row 3 until your piece measures approximately 20 inches long , Fasten off.

repeat the same process for the second piece.

Assembly.

After you finished 2 pieces of rectangles then lay them in flatted on top of each other.

Now we are on to making the sleeve.

By join new yarn at any place of the armhole and sc around the arm hole for 1 round.

Then start to do moss stitch in the next round.

At the arm hole we will work in a spiral do not join round.

round 1 of moss stitch.  sc in the next stitch from hook * ch1, skip 1 st, sc in next st * repeat * to * across until the end of the round. do not join round

round2. sc in the first ch space * ch1, skip 1 st, sc in next ch space * repeat * to * across until the end of the round. do not join round.

Repeat row 2 until your sleeve measures approximately 10 inches long or your desired length , Fasten off. Then repeat for the second sleeve.

Making the ribbing band separate from the body part.

Next we will make the band by crocheting them  separate from the body of the sweater.

Pick up your 4 mm crochet hook and start with making a slip knot and 11 chains and crochet row by row the back loop only until you get the length that matches the length of the bottom part of the sweater.

Row1. crochet 1hdc in each of the next 10 chains from hook, ch1 turn (10)

Row2.  crochet 1hdc in each of the next  stitches from hook ( blo only), ch1 turn (10)

Repeat round 2 until you get the length matching the bottom part of the sweater!

Then attached them by sewing using yarn needle.

Now enjoy your new oversize sweater!

  8. HI Dimitra, for sewing the shoulder to make is one off the shoulder I sew one side is shorter than another side for example on the left I sew 6 inch and on the right I sew 10 inch.
