Almost two year ago, I crocheted this brim beanie hat and had intended to share this pattern on the blog. And I totally forget about it with those baby busy things around here until now, I finally have a chance to share this cute pattern with you.

These crochet brim beanie is really simple mainly used single and double crochet. Made with cotton yarn. I did add a colour button to match the hat.
Sizes:
Newborn-3 months (fits up to 14 inch)
Materials:
You will need
- MC: weight of yarn to be use 50 grams/110 meters. Sample using Marvel Brand Moda Vera 50% acrylic,50%cotton) You can substitute any yarn that gives you gauge.
- CC: small amount
Crochet hook size 3.50 mm
Sewing yarn needle and buttons
Removable stitch markers or contrasting colour yarn
Buttons for decoration
Gauge: 4 sc x 4 rows = 1 square inch

Chain (ch)
Slip stitch (sl st)
Single crochet (sc)
Double crochet (dc)
Crochet Decrease = 2sc together (dec)
Main Colour (MC)
Contrasting Colour (CC)

How to add braid to an earflap
Hat body (size 0-3 months)
You will work from top to bottom
Round1. Make magic ring or adjustable ring and 12sc in ring (12 sts)
Round2. 2sc in each st around (24 sts)
Round3. *Sc in next st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (36 sts)
Round4. 2sc in each st around (72 sts)
Round5. *Sc in next 2 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (96 sts)
Round6. *Sc in next 3 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (120 sts)
Round7. *Sc in next 4 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (144 sts)
Round8-12. Sc in each st around (144 sts).
Round13. *Sc in each of next 10 st,dec 1* and repeat from * around (132 sts)
Round14. *Sc in each of next 9 st,dec 1* and repeat from * around (120 sts)
Round15. *Sc in each of next 8 st,dec 1* and repeat from * around (108 sts)
Round16. *Sc in each of next 7 st,dec 1* and repeat from * around (96 sts)
Round17. *Sc in each of next 6 st,dec 1* and repeat from * around (84 sts)
Round18. *Sc in each of next 5 st,dec 1* and repeat from * around (72 sts)
Round19-20. Sc in each st around (72 sts).
Round21. *Sc in each of next 4 st,dec 1* and repeat from * around (60 sts)
Round22. *Sc in each of next 3 st,dec 1* and repeat from * around (48 sts)
Round23-24. Sc in each st around (48 sts). Slip stitch and continue to the brim instructions
Brim
Place a stitch marker when you start to crochet a brim.
Row1. Crochet in front loop only, Sc in next 20 st, ch1 and turn (20 sts)
Row2. dc in next 20 st, ch1 and turn (20 sts)
Row3. dc in next 20 st, ch1 and turn (20 sts)
Row4. Sc in next 20 st, (20 sts) and fasten off
Row5. Reattached the yarn at your stitch marker and work sc around the entire edge of the brim and fasten off.
Strap
Chains 26 with MC
Round1. Sc in next 25 st from hook, ch1 and turn (25 sts)
Row2. Sc in next 25 st, ch1 and turn (25 sts)
Row3. Sc in next 25 st, ch1 and turn (25 sts)
Row4. Pick up CC, Sc in each st around entire strap and finish off.
Finishing
Attach cute buttons of your choice using yarn needle.

Gorgeous pattern Thankyou for sharing. I'm a newbie and was wondering if this could also be made for an adult and if so can you tell me how please? Thankyou again ?

HI Sharon, Yes you can made to adult size by keep continue sc from round 8 until you got the desirable length you need to fit adult head then keep decreasing, for example round 8-30 sc then decrease. Hope this help.
