There are special things that I love, like flower, beautiful dress, cake, smoothies, chocolate and my birthday. Guess what? Today is my birthday, and don’t ask me how old am I but I’m going to tell you all, my age stop at 25 lol.

So, was the best way to celebrate? For me to give something to the community and other people is make me happy and feel good inside! I was thinking about take my mom and little Geo out for dinner and go to temple to give some donation.

Here a sneak peak of what we did on my birthday, Wake up early in the morning go to Thai temple to get blessing and donation then we went to Chinese temple on the mountain.

I’m very happy and excited to share this cute baby bomber hat crochet pattern with you guys. This hat made with combination of funfur yarn and cotton yarn. The skill you need is just basic crochet stitches, like single crochet, magic ring and a bit more.

Well now to the pattern my friend, let get the hook ready!

Sizes:

Preemie  (fits up to 13 inch)

0-3 months  (fits 14 inch)

3-6 months (fits 14- 17 inch)

6m-1 years  (fits 16-19 inch)

1-3 years  (fits 18-20 up inch)

Materials:

You will need

  • MC: weight of yarn to be use 50 grams/110 meters. Sample using Marvel Brand Moda Vera 50% acrylic,50%cotton) You can substitute any yarn that gives you gauge.
  • CC:White colour small amount (fancy yarn)

Crochet hook size 3.5 mm

Sewing yarn needle

Removable stitch markers or contrasting coloured yarn

Gauge: 4 single crochet stitches x 4 rows = 1 square inch

Skill and abbreviations:

You will need to know how to make:  

Chain (ch)

Slip stitch (sl st)

Single crochet (sc)

Double crochet (dc)

Crochet Decrease = 2sc together (dec)

Magic ring or adjustable ring

Main Colour (MC)

How to add braid to an earflap

Hat body  (All size)

You will work from top to bottom

Round1. Make magic ring or adjustable ring and 8sc in ring (8 sts)

Round2. *Sc in next st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (12 sts)

Round3. *Sc in next 2 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (16 sts)

Round4. *Sc in next 3 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (20 sts)

Round5. *Sc in next 4 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (24 sts)

Round6. *Sc in next 5 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (28 sts)

Round7. *Sc in next 6 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (32 sts)

Round8. *Sc in next 7 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (36 sts)

Round9. *Sc in next 8 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (40 sts)

Round10. *Sc in next 9 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (44 sts)

 

Preemie only:

Rounds 11 – 20. Sc in each st around (44 sts). Finish off.

0-3 months /3-6months/6m-1ys/1ys-3ys/ sizes:

Round11. *Sc in next 10 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (48 sts)

0-3 months only:

Round12-22. Sc in each st around (48 sts). Finish off.

3-6months/6m-1ys/1-3ys/ sizes:

Round12. *Sc in next 11 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (52 sts)

3-6months only:

Round13-24. Sc in each st around (52 sts). Finish off.

6m-1 years and 1-3ys/ sizes:

Round13. *Sc in next 12 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (56 sts)

6m-1 years sizes only:

Round14-27. *Sc  in each st*, repeat from * around (56 sts). Finish off.

1-3ys sizes:

Round14. *Sc in next 13 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (60 sts)

Round15. *Sc in next 14 st, 2sc in next st*, repeat from * around (64 sts)

1-3ys sizes only:

Round16-30. *Sc  in each st*, repeat from * around (64 sts). Finish off.

Shape earflap:

Use two stitch markers to mark the stitch in the middle of each side of the hat. Join MC at the first marker with sl st.

Row1. Ch 1 (counts as first sc here and throughout), sc 14, ch1, turn (15 sts)

Row2.  Sc in next 13 sts, ch1, turn (14 sts)

Row3.  Sc in next 12 sts, ch1, turn (13 sts)

Row4.  Sc in next 11 sts, ch1 turn (12 sts)

Row5.  Sc in next 10 sts, ch1 turn (11 sts)

Row6.  Sc in next 9 sts, ch1, turn (10 sts)

Row7.  Sc in next 8 sts, ch1, turn (9 sts)

Row8.  Sc in next 7 sts, ch1, turn (8 sts)

Row9.  Sc in next 6 sts, ch1, turn (7sts)

Row10.  Sc in next 5 sts, ch1, turn (6 sts)

Row11.  Sc in next 4 sts, (5 sts) fasten off. Join MC at second marker with sl st and repeat as above for second earflap.

Edging:

Join CC at any st along the edging with sl st and work one round of sc around the edge, going around the earflaps. Fasten off.

White bill.

Make 1 piece with white colour

As you can see on the photo above, there is a gap in the front of the hat. This gap is where you will place the white bill. Now we will measure the length between the gap (the first stitch of the front next to where the earflap joins).

Then crochet a rectangle the length of your measurement and make it wide enough to fit the gap. This width will be slightly different for every size. Start with a loose chain that is as wide as you want to fit the front gap of the hat.

Row1. Back loop only: Sc in each st across.

Row2. Ch2, turn, sc in each st across.

Repeat Row2. 20 times or until white bill is as tall as you want then finish off.

Finishing

Attach white bill by sewing.
