I am dying to crochet this viral Taylor Swift-inspired dress. This dress is hitting the crochet community hard, and there are so many versions of this cute crochet dress out there. It is indeed a perfect cover-up for any beach holiday.

I have put a little tweak on my version for the shoulder, and I am just having fun with the color changing in between the rows.

Can a beginner’s crochet make this cute swiftie dress? Yes, you can; they are beginner-friendly.
This cute Taylor Swift crochet dress uses the good old classic granny crochet stitch, which is just a 2-row repeat, and even a less experienced crocheter will master it in no time.
All you need is basic crochet stitches like double crochet and chain, and you are good to go!
The construction of this crochet dress is made from 4 rectangles with side-to-side to increase the width of your measurement.
How to measure to create your own perfect fit Taylor Swift crochet dress pattern.
Step 1: Measure from the top of your shoulder down to the bottom. This will be the length of your staring foundation chain.
Step 2: measure from one side of your shoulder to the other side +2 inches for a relaxed fit; this will be the width of your front & back panels. For example, my side-to-side shoulder measurement is 16 ines+2 inches = 18 inches. These 18 inches will be the width of my front & back panel.

Step 3: measure the length of your arm. This will be the length of your sleeves.
Materials need.
Yarn: I use mixed of 3 color 100% cotton of hobbii rainbow8/6 weight 3 light, 1 skein is 50 gram/105m/115 yard approximately.

It is approximately small to medium fit for bust sizes 30 to 36 inches. The length of the dress is 25 inches.
For me, the model wearing this piece, I am 4’9 feet tall, with a bust of 32 inches, a waistline of 27 inches, and a hip of 35 inches.
How to crochet a simple classic granny stitch Taylor Swift dress for beginner step-by-step video.

The dress body makes 2 pieces.
The back & front panel makes 2 pieces.
The measurement of one rectangle.
- It should be 25 inches long to cover the bottom. You can make it longer or shorter by adding more chain or decreasing the chain in multiples of 3+2.
- 18 inches wide fit bust size 30-36 inches.
First, let’s start with the foundation chain , it is the lennght of your dress by measure from the top of your shoulder to the bottom . For example, my length is 25 INCHES long.
So I will get 25 inches for the length of my dress for my front and back panel.

Start a foundation chain.
Pick up a crochet hook size 3.0 mm and Start off by making a slip knot.
Then make 90+2 chains for the length 25 inches long of the dress. start a foundation chain in multiples of 3+2.
After you get the foundation chain then, make sc in each chain across, turn, and start row 1 of the granny stitch.
Row1: ch2, then make 1dc in the same stitch * skip 2 stitches, then work 3dc in next stitch* repeat * to * across until end of the row until you will have 3 stitches remain, skip 2 st, 2dc in the last stitch, ch2 turn.
Row2. now you will work 3dc in each space ( between double crochet groups) across until the end of the row, then dc in the last stitch, turn.
Have fun switching up the color along the way.
Row 3 and row 4 Repeat rows 1 and 2. until you get the wide of your shoulder.
Create the lace shoulder.
Use the measuring tape to measure 5-6 inches forward from the end of the dress on both side then place stitch marker to secure the positon, the open neck with be around 8-10 inch: feel free to adjust the length of the shoulder.
Now, we will crochet the base of the lace row by making sc in each space. For example, my one is about 15 stitches, so on both shoulders, you should be the same amount of stitches 15. then chain 2 at the end of the row and turn to the next row.
Row1. 1dc in same st, ch1,skip1 st,make 1dc in the next st, at the end chain2 and turn to the next row.
Row2. 1dc in the same st,chain1,skip1 chain,make1dc on top of the previous dc st.
Row3-4. repeat row2. fasten of leave long tail for seeing.
Crocheting the long sleeves.
Make 2 pieces.
Start by measure the length of your arm this will be the foundation chain.
The measurement of one rectangle for the sleeves.
- 17 inches long for sleeves length. Just add more chain for longer sleeves.
- 14 inches wide fit armhole 7 inches when folded in half.
Start a foundation chain.
Pick up a crochet hook size 3.0 mm and Start off by making a slip knot.
Then make 60+2 chains for sleeves length 17 inches long. ( For the longer sleeve, start a foundation chain in multiples of 3+2)
After you get the foundation chain then, make sc in each chain across, turn, and start row 1 of the granny stitch.
Row1: ch2, then make 1dc in the same stitch * skip 2 stitches, then work 3dc in next stitch* repeat * to * across until end of the row until you will have 3 stitches remain, skip 2 st, 2dc in the last stitch, ch2 turn.
Row2. now you will work 3dc in each space ( between double crochet groups) across until the end of the row, then dc in the last stitch, turn.

Assemble the sleeve, fold the rectangle in half, then sew each end to create the tube for each piece of the rectangle.
Assemble the dress.
After we finish with the seam of the 2 long sleeves, now we are going to lay the front and the back panel flatted, then sew the top edge of the front and back panel together to create the shoulder. See the photo below.
Now attach the two sleeves to the dress body.
