Hello October! Let’s meet the easiest chunky poncho wrap-Nina.

Oh the name of this simple crochet poncho is inspired from my favorite singer song.

I love love to work with the chunky yarn so much because they can speed up my crochet  piece to finsihed it quicky.

You girls will love how simple and easy this chunky poncho wrap  is , they  are made from just one piece of rectangle and then fold up in half and involve little sewing on the shoulder.

The stitch might look clumble and little complicate but but they are super easy for beginner just alternate single and double crochet, that it!

SO Let’s get start!

– I used bulky yarn, yarn weight 5 bulky. , The one  That I would recommend is from knitpicks  Brava bulky yarn, 100% arcylic They have a great varities at a good price!!! I Love them ^^.  Brava bulky yarn.

 

Or you could go for cotton blend for comfy texture with Plymouth Jeannee Chunky Yarn.

Even go for luxury  and toasty warm  100% wool with Cloudborn Superwash Merino Bulky Yarn.

I am using about   800 yard all together.

– 6 mm crochet hook or J/10 US hook size

– Sewing yarn needle

– stitch marker

Gauge:  ” 1 dc in next st  and 1 sc in next st ” = 1 inch

Note: we are crochet this poncho loosely not too tight.

You will need to know how to make

-sc which mean single crochet

-dc which mean  double crochet

-ch, Chain

-slip knot

Finished Size Approximately:

 Small to XL ( other size to make it bigger by add more chain to foundation chain, detail in the pattern)

For me the model wearing this piece, I am 4’9 feet tall.

Nina chunky poncho wrap instruction.

Pick up crochet hook size 6 mm and Start of by making a slip knot Then make 100 chains  (foundation chain multiple of 2 ).

s to Xl chain 100

2XL chain 120

3XL to 4XL chain 140

You will crochet it loosely not too tight to create soft and squishy.

Row1.    sc  in the next chain from hook,  then sc in each chain across until the end of  the row, ch1 turn.

Row2.  *sc in next st , then dc in next st*      repeat * to * across until the end of the row. Ch1 turn

 

Row3 and beyond Repeat row 2 or  until piece measures approximately 18 inches long and  Fasten off.

18 inches long for size s to xl

21 inches long for size 2xl

25  inches long for size 3xl to 4xl

Assembly.

After we all finished with the long rectangle piece , now time for assembly.

Lay piece of big rectangle  in flatted and then fold them in half and sew along the edge to create the shoulder by using yarn needle see pic below.

After we finished sewign the edge to create the shoulder then we will add fringe at the side of the poncho.

  2. HI GIna, WEight worsted yarn aran you might take longer time to finished or you might need to hold double strand together while crochet so it be quicker like a chunky yarn.
