Hello December! I am tempting to make a red sweater for this Christmas  but this easy and quick picot chain lace crochet shrug is in the way again maybe because they are so fast to whip up that why I finished them all in one go!

Have you ever feel like you want to do something but then you finished something else? For me this happen all the time.

Here they come love at first sight crochet easy lace shrug!

This lace easy shrug is made from picot chain crochet stitch which I made this tutorial earlier.

The shrug is so simple made from 1 rectangle and sew the each end to create the arm hole that it! all done, see how easy they are? I make them with cotton yarn also but you guys could switch to acrylic yarn or wool if you like to make it more warmer. as  for me the weather here in Thailand is suit my choice for cotton yarn.

Let’s get start!

– I used Lion brand 24/7 cotton  . I am using about 300-400 yard fit size small to medium.( easy to adjust the size see pattern instruction below) yarn weight 4 worsted medium.

Color is Aqua or pastel turquise

– 4 mm crochet hook

Sewing yarn needle

Skill and abbreviations

(American crochet terms)

You will need to know how to make

-St (stitch)

-sc which mean single crochet

-dc which mean double crochet

-ch, Chain

-Picot chain stitch

Finished Size Approximately:  size small to fit 2XL For the bigger size add more chain to foundation chain see detail below.

Gauge: 2 group of picot chain stitch  = 2.5inch

Measurement.

of the rectangle.

-27inches wide

-19 inches long

Let’s get into the pattern.

The chain will be multiple of 5+2 for the foundation.

In this small  to medium sample size I start with chain 120+2.

(Large 130+2), (XL 140+2), (2XL 150+2) and  add more 10 chain to the foundation chain.

Row1. sc in second chain from hook, * chain 5,skip next 4 chains then sc in the next chain* repeat * to* across until the end of the row. turn

Row2. * chain5 then ( sc,ch3,sc in the center ch of the previous row)*  repeat * to * across until in last  ch5 of the previous row make sc in the center of ch5 then skip2 ch and make 1dc in the last sc. ch1 turn.

Row3. sc in the same st. * ch5( sc,ch3,sc in the center ch of the previous row)* repeat * to * until you are in the last ch5 from the previous row then make sc in the center of ch5.

Repeat row 2 and 3 until  you get to 19 inches long.

Assembly.

After we got one piece of rectangle , now it’s time to assembly.

Shape armhole.

Lay the piece of rectangle in flatted and fold each corner inward until they meet then using your yarn needle to seam the corner with your prefer method ( I used whip stitch) and leaving  holes for the arm. For the arm holes I leave my one about 5 inch or your prefer length.

Repeat for the other side.

That’s all.

Now enjoy your new shrug!
