Simple Herringbone crochet shrug pattern.

Well, I must admit to you guys that my obsession with crocheting a shrug is that once I crocheted one, I want to make more, and I can’t stop and don’t stop making them like I am crazy in love, lol.

I am now currently own 3 crochet shrugs in my wardrobe: a lacy lightweight one, a cozy collar, and this herringbone one in this post. They are all pretty and perfect for beginner crocheters.

Especially this one here, the everyday shrug-free pattern is made from herringbone double crochet stitch throughout the entire crochet piece.

This shrug has a simple construction with no shaping involved; basically, you just crochet a rectangle/square and turn them into a shrug cardigan by folding each of the four corners to create the armhole, and you are done.

Now you girls know it is really easy, right?

And I am sure y’all love the easy-to-follow, in-depth, step-by-step video tutorial on youtube that I made to help along when you crocheting this shrug.

Yarn used for this Everyday herringbone shrug.

For making a shrug with crochet herringbone stitch, you girl can use any yarn weight and any kind of fiber content with the recommended crochet hook size on the label.

A chunky yarn: would be a great one if you want the shrug to keep you toasty warm in the winter, and you can crochet them quickly.

4 medium weight yarn: is the one made for the example piece; you girl can pick up any fiber content for crochet this shrug; for example, natural fiber will give you a pretty drape outcome when you finish and is great for summer weather.

3 light/dk weight yarn: is also works great for this pattern as well. However, you will need a little more time to finish the project.

Overall, you can pick any yarn weight to work on this herringbone shrug pattern.

How to measure yourself for crocheting a shrug?

Now, you might wonder how am I supposed to crochet a shrug that fit my size if I pick different yarn weights from the pattern recommendation, right?

I will cover this step, and it really simple.

The answer is when you crocheted the foundation chain for this shrug pattern. Basically, you make the width to fit your size.

So just add more chains to the foundation chain to make them wide enough for your bust size. This free shrug pattern is your bust measurment+6-10 inches.

For example: if my bust size is 32 inches, then add 6 inches, so the width of my foundation chain should be 38 inches.

Now You get the idea?
