This beautiful texture stitch beanie creates from three stitch repeat, which is two double crochet and one single crochet stitch, and these three combination stitches call the blanket stitch.
The sweetberry slouch is crocheted from the top down. Basically, we just crochet the blanket stitch in rows to create one simple rectangle, then continue to crochet the brimmed beanie.

- I used 100% acrylic Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice Yarn or any 4 medium weight yarn.
- 6 mm crochet hook or J/10 US hook size
- Sewing yarn needle

Sweetberry beanie hat free crochet pattern instruction.
Start off by making a slip knot, Then make 76 chains foundation chain.
Row 1. Make 2 dc in the 3rd chain from hook and *sk 2 ch, sc in next ch, and make 2 dc in same ch stitch*. Repeat from * to* end of row. Sc in the last ch of the row. Ch 2, turn.
Row 2. 2 dc in the first sc of the previous row, *sk next 2 dc, make sc and 2 dc in next sc*.
Repeat from * to* until the end of the row. Make sc in turning ch 2 at the end of the row, ch 2, turn.
Row 3-11. Repeat row 2.
Now we are moving to make, and the band continues from row 11.
Row12. sc in each stitch across. In the last 2 stitches, make 1 sc decrease, and turn. Don’t chain
Row13. sc in each stitch across the last 2 stitches, make 1 sc decrease and turn. Don’t chain
Row14. sc in each stitch across the last 2 stitches, make 1 sc decrease and turn. Don’t chain
Row15. sc in each stitch across the last 2 stitches, make 1 sc decrease and turn. Don’t chain
Row16 sc in each stitch across, turn. don’t chain
Row17. sc in each stitch across finished off and leave long tail for sewing.
Assemble the beanie hat.
Fold the rectangle in half and line up the end.
Using your yarn needle and whip stitch to connect the end together, then use whip stitch to close the gap at the top of the hat.
Tie off and weave in the end.
Now you have your very own Sweetberry slouchy beanie hat.

I followed instructions but the rectangle ended up being 30" instead of 24". I would like to reduce the number of starting chains from 76 to __?__ .
